Bioethanol: for unrestricted development involving a maximum number of operators
4/06/2005
AGPB (wheat) and AGPM are delighted at the liveliness and the faith shown in the future by parties interested in producing new quantities of bioethanol, as seen in response to the call for tenders by the French government in February this year.
They are equally pleased with the reaction to the government’s attitude expressed when announcing that it was immediately initiating the second stage of its biofuel development plan (2008-2010). In the short term, AGPB and AGPM would like to see approvals given to the most competitive plans that use the most grain and which would get the best prices for grain producers. Advances over recent months have been achieved through widespread support for bioethanol from the profession over the years. AGPB and AGPM will back all plans offering prospects for all parties interested in playing a key role to provide the raw materials, and thereby involving as many farmers as possible from all different regions in France in the implementation of the plan.
AGPB and AGPM have noted the decision of the Ministers of Agriculture and Industry to ask the Senate to vote against the measure introduced in the Lower House on March 24 as part of the draft energy legislation on biofuel/conventional fuel blends. The target percentage must be met for each type of biofuel, in accordance with the provisions passed by vote under the 2005 Finance Act, and should not be calculated as an overall percentage Contacts : AGPB : Pascal Hurbault, tél 01 44 31 16 25 AGPM : Béatrice Guénebeaud, tél 01 47 23 48 32
