BIOFUEL DEVELOPMENT PLAN: the ethanol industry is pleased with the immediate launch of the second stage
3/25/2005
The French Prime Minister, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, has announced the immediate launch of the second stage of the biofuel development plan, which he sees as a major ambition for the nation.
AGPB, AGPM, CGB and SNPAA have applauded both the announcement and the prompt reaction of the Government to the dynamic approach of the industrial parties and their proposal to set up production facilities designed to meet the objectives of the EU Directive. AGPB, AGPM, CGB and SNPAA had recently called for the first and second stages to be undertaken at the same time. This meant taking quick action to provide the industrial parties with the visibility needed to initiate their capital expenditure, amounting to one billion euros and helping create thousands of new jobs. The Prime Minister has asked the Ministry of Agriculture to decide on the additional quantities to be produced and the economic conditions applying to this development, and over the next few days, the bioethanol industry will be arranging a meeting with the Ministry. At the same time the bioethanol industry has asked the public authorities to ensure that fuel retail companies have the technical facilities needed to blend bioethanol directly.
