The General Association of Maize Growers [AGPM - Association Générale des Producteurs de Maïs] was founded on May 13, 1934, and restructured in 2001 when joining forces with the French National Federation of Seed Maize and Seed Sorghum Production [FNPSMS - Fédération nationale de la production des semences de maïs et de sorgho] to form MAIZ'EUROP’.
Each line of activity has its own distinct organisational entity.
AGPM remains the base and foundation for the new maize group, representing maize and maize farmers and defending their interests not only with French and EU authorities, but also with decision-makers and civil society.
FNPSMS is an inter-branch organisation responsible for organising and developing seed maize and seed sorghum production in France, covering economic and financial issues, technical aspects and regulations, and also promoting this seed production in the European Union or even in certain third (non-EU) countries.
General facilities and services have been centralised in AGPM-GIE.
GERM-Services is a commercial company building up business services: conducting trials, studies, analyses and providing other services related to information, production and processing of maize.
Technical research and development work was initially conducted by AGPM Technique, but was reorganised in late 2002, merging with ITCF to set up a new technical centre: the plant institute covering both and named “ARVALIS-Institut du Végétal”.
